World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting 11-inning contest where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51M viewers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest averaged 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American average reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various languages.
